Eyelid surgery, or blepharoplasty, is a surgical procedure to improve the appearance or correct functional problems of the upper or lower lids, or both. With age, the skin around the eyes loses elasticity and fat may gather above and below the eyelids, causing sagging eyebrows, droopy upper lids, and bags under the eyes. Besides making people look older, sagging skin around the eyes can reduce peripheral vision. Blepharoplasty can reduce or eliminate these vision problems while making eyes appear younger and more alert.
Dr. Heinz has extensive training and experience in performing eyelid surgery while carefully protecting the function of the eye. He is often called upon to help repair eyelid issues arising as complications from blepharoplasty procedures done elsewhere. His approach is safe and effective, because, as he says, “Proper function of the eyes are important. So you want someone who works on them to have a combined knowledge of the eyes and eyelids."
